Jagannath Temple
The Jagannath temple is a Hindu temple situated in the eastern part of india in the state of odisha, puri district. Shree Jagannath is the form of Lord Bishnu. This temple was build in 11th century BC by Gang dynasty by King Chodaganga Dev. Deities Jagannath, Balabhadra & Subhadra, the trio worshipped here inside the temple. In puri there is 13 festivals in 12 months. Ratha yatra is one of the most famous festival here. Non hindus are not allowed inside the temple so they can visit temple from out side and only can do darshana of Patitapabana. Lord Jagannath also known as the Lord of Universe.
Konark Temple
Konark sun temple built in 13th century by king Narashima Dev, it’s situated 35km north east from puri city & 65km from Bhubaneswar. This temple is a dedication to lord Surya & this temple looks like a chariot with immense wheels & horses. This temple is known for his art works all over the temples. In 1984 it’s declared a world heritage center by Unesco. it remains a major pilgrimage site for Hindus, who gather here every year for the Chandrabhaga Mela around the month of February. Konark Sun Temple is depicted on the reverse side of the Indian currency note of 10 rupees to signify its importance to Indian cultural heritage.
Dhauli Shanti Stupa
DHAULIGIRI is a hill located at bank of river daya, 8km from the city of bhubaneswar in odisha, is known as Dhauli Shanti Stupa & peace pagoda monument which witness the great kalinga war. It was build by Japan Budha Sanga & kalinga Budha sangha in 1972. The light and sound show elucidating the travails of Ashoka is a must watch. The Kalinga Dhauli Mahotsav –The three day festival usually held in the month of February features a heady mix of classical music, classical dance and martial art dance form
Chilika Lake
Chilika Lake is a brackish water lagoon, spread over the Puri, Khurda and Ganjam districts of Odisha state on the east coast of India, at the mouth of the Daya River, flowing into the Bay of Bengal, covering an area of over 1,100 km2. It is the biggest lake of India after Vembanad Lake It is the largest wintering ground for migratory birds on the Indian sub-continent. The lake is home to a number of threatened species of plants and animals Satapada is a town in Puri district, Odisha, India. In Odia sata means "seven" and pada means "village", so Satapada means group of seven villages. It is located 50 kilometers from Puri. Satapada on Chilika is home to the Irrawaddy dolphin.
Nandankanan Zoo
Nandankanan Zoological Park is a 437-hectare (1,080-acre) zoo and botanical garden in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. Established in 1960, it was opened to the public in 1979 and became the first zoo in India to join World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) in 2009. It also contains a botanical garden and part of it has been declared a sanctuary. Nandankanan, literally meaning The Garden of Heaven,[1] is located near the capital city, Bhubaneswar, in the environs of the Chandaka forest, and includes the 134-acre (54 ha) Kanjia lake.
Udayagiri & Khandagiri
Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves, formerly called Kattaka Caves or Cuttack caves, are partly natural and partly artificial caves of archaeological, historical and religious importance near the city of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, India. The caves are situated on two adjacent hills, Udayagiri and Khandagiri mentioned as Kumari Parvata in the Hathigumpha inscription It is believed that most of these caves were carved out as residential blocks for Jaina monks during the reign of King Kharavela. Udayagiri means "Sunrise Hill" and has 18 caves while Khandagiri has 15 caves.
Lingaraja Temple
Lingaraja Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva and is one of the oldest temples in Bhubaneswar, the capital of the Indian state of Odisha,India. The temple is the most prominent landmark of Bhubaneswar city and one of the major tourist attractions of the state. The central tower of the temple is 180 ft (55 m) tall. The temple represents the quintessence of the Kalinga architecture and culminating the medieval stages of the architectural tradition at Bhubaneswar King Jajati Keshari was the founder of the temple.
Chandrabhaga Beach
This situated 3km east of the Sun temple of Konark, in the Puri district in the state of Odisha, India.[1] It is 30 km from the city of Puri. Formerly Chandrabhaga was considered a place of natural cure for lepers.
